Can Art Save a Mall?

That’s the hope in suburban St. Louis, where a huge shopping mall was scheduled for demolition even before the recession hit. Instead of tearing it down, why not open its vast spaces—more than 200,000 square feet—to artists? The community would benefit, and local artists would get a chance to take a risk, start a business, or pursue a dream. And so ArtSpace was born. http://www.parade.com/news/2009/11/22-can-art-save-a-mall.html
